The year is flying by, and thanks to our clients, carriers and vendors, and strategic partners, it is already proving to be a prosperous year for BCI! Our 4th Annual Symposium took place in February and was our must successful one yet. For the first time, vendor booths were set up and we were overwhelmed by the participation and support that was shown.
In addition to a successful Symposium, 2019 has brought growth within the BCI Team – we have multiple new hires that bring unique value to the company and we are excited to see even more growth as the year goes on. Great things have already happened, and now, we are in full-swing (pun intended) for our 2nd Annual Golf Classic! Though it is a fun day to catch up with each other and get a much-needed break from being in offices and meetings, I don’t want us to lose sight of the motivation and meaning behind this event.
In 2017, the infamous Hurricane Harvey hit our beloved city and did more damage than we could’ve ever imagined. The unending rain very quickly caused a shift in priorities. Suddenly, bosses and team leads weren’t checking in on projects, progress reports, or follow up emails; business was no longer the first priority, the people that made up the business were. Texts and phone calls started circulating – Was everyone okay? Their families? Their homes? Though we could check up on each other, that was all we could do at the time. You watch the news and see the devastation, but no one ever dreams the people they love will be a part of the many who ended up losing everything.
We are a business, yes, but we are also a family. BCI bound together and reached out to help everyone we could, as much as we could. Team members gathered at houses to help sort through the mess Harvey left in its wake. I’m thankful for a team that was willing to get down and dirty with their fellow co-workers, but even with how much volunteer help we extended, it still didn’t seem to be enough for those we’ve worked alongside for so long, those we love. What happens when the mess is cleaned up? That’s when the work really starts; the financially, emotionally draining process to rebuild both lives and homes.
Team BCI Charitable Relief Fund
For this reason, the Team BCI Charitable Relief Fund (TBCRF) was born; a non-profit organization created to raise money and provide financial relief for employees, partners, clients, and the broader Houston community in times of unforeseen hardship. To date, the TBCRF has raised over $89,000 and has helped 17 families. Though life is back to normal for most who were affected by Harvey, it is vital that we keep the momentum going for the future.
Last year we held our Inaugural Golf Classic, a charity whose proceeds all go toward the TBCRF, and raised $37,000. This year, we’re hoping to go above and beyond that amount. We strive to build up the TBCRF so that we can help numerous people in different walks of life, battling different circumstances, at any given time. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 to go toward the Charity Relief Fund, but we need your help! We encourage you to sign up as a sponsor or to create a 4-person team made up of friends, family, clients, and/or co-workers – event details are as follows:
