PCORI Fee Increase
PCORI Fee IncreaseThe Internal Revenue Service (IRS) states the fee that funds the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will increase from $2.08 to $2.17 per covered life. The 4.3 percent increase in the PCORI fee will apply to policy years and health plan years that end on or after Oct. 1, 2015, and before Oct. 1, 2016.
Drafters of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) created PCORI, and the PCORI fee to try to increase the number of scientific studies that compare how well existing medical treatments work.
